The Environmental Division actively seeks to prevent pollution of all bodies of water, including
Land areas that drain into these waters
Most water quality degradation is caused from non-point pollution. Non-point pollution comes from many diverse sources including pesticides from agricultural use, lawn fertilizers and animal wastes. These types of contaminates usually enter local waters directly through runoff during heavy rains. The division will respond to all citizen's complaints regarding water pollution. Weekly sampling of beach water is accomplished during the summer bathing season.
